What Are You Doing?
Have you ever just stopped and asked yourself, “What am I doing”? Well, I suppose at one point in time or another every one of us likely questioned our own “spontaneous” actions. At least during those moments where we discover something different about ourselves never noticed before.
[Part 1 – Topic]
As a child, do you recall ever hearing, “Oh, be careful little hands what you do…” Maybe you have already started the journey toward forgetting those old Sunday school favorites. Yet the wisdom within those words can still protect us today.
With so many decisions to be made every single day, each of us must “choose” what seems to be your “best” path forward. Even if subconsciously, your decision will have to be “made”. Possibly even when completely on “auto-pilot”. Yet, you remain in the “driver’s seat”.
One of our greatest freedoms in life is choice (deciding between two or more “real” or “perceived” options). You can thank our Awesome Creator for that extraordinary freedom. Have you taken the time to say “thank you” to Him lately?
[Part 2 – Problem]
Sooner or later, you will make a “bad” decision. I am so sorry to bring you this “negative” revelation. Maybe this decision of yours will even bring you some regret for an extended period of time. What now? How can you remedy the situation now that you have already made a “choice”?
After the dust settles, how do I begin making only “good” decisions (from here on)? Or, will you start to notice a frustrating pattern of one bad choice after another, which almost resembles a “chronic” problem? Making another bad decision again tomorrow, and the next day, and… (well, you get the picture).
At times, you could even find yourself leaning toward those familiar “comfort-zone” preferences. Some of these “favorites” of yours could have even been acquired way back in your “early” childhood development years. Maybe these are not necessarily “bad”, but are they really “best” for your life today?
[Part 3 – Solution]
Please understand that every human being to ever be born has had to make decisions regarding what to do. Even our Lord Jesus was entrusted with “free-will” and could proactively make his “own” decisions. Having God’s Word should provide some guidance on making “better” choices.
Try to always strive for “excellence”, not perfection. Although not desired, even a bad decision today could become useful “wisdom” for better selections tomorrow. That is, if you learn from your mistakes early enough (and not habitually “repeat”). Maybe the Holy Spirit can help you with navigating these uncharted waters.
Never forget that your Loving God is always willing to help, starting with offering you a strong shoulder to cry on. Forgiveness is only “one” prayer away. Are you ready for a “do-over”? Maybe today is “your” day to begin with a “fresh” and “new” perspective?
From one who forever remains…
