Married Jekyll and Hyde
Maybe the love of your life has been found out. Not always able to be that “perfect” person you fell in love with so long ago. Turns out, you seemingly married “two” completely different partners. The better side you enjoy by day, whom appears to become a real “monster” you dislike by night.
[Part 1 – Topic]
Ever feel like you married your spouse and ended up with a “two-for-one” offer? Both halves unfortunately come together to make the entire person. Do you find yourself more willing to “love” and “embrace” just one side of your life partner?
Maybe your other half comes off as a “sweet” angel at times, and then a completely different person the rest of the time. Granted, this is not exactly what you signed up for, right? You only desire to live with the half which comes off as a normal and loving individual who wants to make you very happy.
So, what do you do during those moments of complete frustration, and sheer disappointment? Hopefully you still want this marriage to succeed, even though your work load is greater than you were made aware. Remember, your spouse needs you to love at all times. Even when it hurts.
[Part 2 – Problem]
The love of your life may be wrestling with both good and evil. And it seems that both take turns at dominating your home and marriage, at different times. One day, something nice is said or done. Of course, that never seems to last.
Maybe your spouse treats you very poorly at certain times. Perhaps some “not-so-nice” words are spoken in your direction. Do you get pulled in, and find yourself even saying things you otherwise would never wish to have ever spoken?
Now, you may even not be sure if you want to “share” the same bed with a person who still has not apologized, and unfortunately maybe never will. Marriage can be so much more difficult than others in your family or even dear friends experienced.
[Part 3 – Solution]
Please accept the person whom you have decided to commit yourself to as human, and always in need of mercy, grace and forgiveness. Of course, this begins with Father God. Yet, you also need to demonstrate His Love. Even during those hardest times where you feel close to you breaking point.
Remember to always answer back with kind words (if possible), or say nothing at all. If your dear spouse is speaking loudly and your blood pressure may begin to boil, perhaps you should consider stepping away from the soon to become “battle zone”.
Possibly right now may be a good time to simply relax and unwind on the couch or in your favorite chair. Once you begin to enter your “happy place”, offer sincere prayer for God’s Love to prevail in your home and marriage. Our Awesome God has great plans for you, so stay the course. Your marriage is worth it.
From one who forever remains…
