Updating Your Wardrobe
So much accumulated…
You may have noticed how many closets, dressers, and other storage containers your wardrobe has filled. Items like clothes, shoes, belts, hats, jewelry, and other accessories. This seems to be considered normal for so many of us, but how much of this stuff do we really actually wear or use.
The various seasons including summer and winter, and spring-time and harvest, promote the need to have different variations according to the temperature outside. Cotton, rayon, and silk are great for warmer weather. Fleece, flannel, and wool are probably only desirable when cooler outside.
Remember to stay focused on your stuff. Your wife will really need to peruse her own wardrobe for changes and updates. Of course, feel free to be there encouraging her when she is ready to release her “no longer of interest” items, and now ready to go “shopping” for all of her current wardrobe needs.
Out with the old…
There are different ways to part with the articles of clothing you no longer desire. You may want to consider “selling” the nicer items (online, yard sale, etc.). Perhaps a quick “donation” to get things out of the way, with a small tax deduction incentive, may be better. Certain items may be okay to even pass along to a family member, friend, or neighbor. Unfortunately, there may even be a few items best suited as trash, discarded once and for good.
As you go through your wardrobe collection, consider a few different possible categories to release. Items which “no longer fit” (may now feel either too tight or too loose). How about those “colors, patterns, or styles” which are no longer of interest to you at this point in time? Even, items with “holes or stains”, unless you prefer a few “work clothes” for an upcoming paint project or even changing your own oil in the vehicle.
In with the new…
Any day is a good day to potentially begin a new season of life. The “calendar” may help to identify a soon-to-be transition between warmer or cooler outdoor clothing needs. At times, we may even have to make a “move” and relocate to a warmer or cooler climate, creating a reason to re-evaluate our collection once again.
If you find yourself getting ready to go “shopping”, it may be wise to make a quick list of which items you can find at less expensive retailers. Maybe things like socks and underwear could be purchased for “less” elsewhere, as opposed to buying everything from the upscale store selling suits and ties for your “office” attire needs. Online comparison shopping can assist with knowing your soon to be out-of-pocket costs, and who is offering the best price.
Whatever happens, you and your wife more than likely have different needs today than you remember having just a few years ago. Keep in mind, shopping should not always be viewed as an expense, sometimes you need to see yourself making an “investment” in to your future … together (you and your adoring bride).
