[Better Health Challenge – Week 2]

INTRO

Welcome back.  For this session, our goal is to get our physical bodies moving.  And keep the blood flowing.  Of course, you are welcome to sit down and rest as needed.  Never forget, you are in the driver’s seat (and get to choose what is best for you).

In the book of Genesis, we read that God created everything (in six days).  And once He was finished, God rested on the seventh day.  We should live similar to His example.  Work (produce results) and then rest.  Both should be important to all of us.

Remember, you should always consult your doctor before starting any new program that could impact your health.  Honestly, this challenge will focus on the basics (with minimal stress).  Of course, you are welcome to adjust our recommendations, for your needs.

ASSESS

How often do you currently exercise?  And which exercises do you perform regularly?  By the way, if your schedule has been crazy and you have not really stuck with anything consistently for some time, that’s okay.  Maybe now is your time to make it happen.

Are you pleased with your current or recent results?  How active do you see yourself?  Constantly moving around on your feet.  Or, sitting in a chair behind a desk most of the day.  Maybe even a combination of the two.

Are you open to some level of improvement?  Perhaps with just some minor adjustments, you may discover a healthier you.  Would you like tomorrow to be a little better than today?

CONSIDER

If you envision yourself in three or six months, what would you like to see different?  Smaller waist line, lower number on the scale, able to climb more steps, not having to catch your breath, etc.  Just consider your motivation for making a change.

Are you willing to integrate a little more activity into your already super busy day?  Some of our goals in life may take months or years.  Yet others can be completed within just days or weeks.  Our desire is to identify something positive to do over the next several days.

Let us focus on “walking” more.  Most experts whom I have listened to over the past few years seem to agree this “one” activity may be our best single choice.  Especially for those with limited time and focus.  Remember, we all get busy and distracted.

EVALUATE

Over the next week or so, let us actually begin making this real.  Exercise can be easy and painless.  So, we are going to look for ways to walk more than usual.  Parking your automobile a little further away at work.  And when you go shopping, etc.

Let us keep it simple, at least for now.  You are welcome to take on more exercise if and when you decide (with your doctor’s blessing).  By you saying yes to this challenge and this week’s activity (walking), you are making progress.  I am so happy for you.

A better way of life can begin with making one or two minor adjustments.  Later, you can add another tweak to your better health regiment.  So, can you see the new and improved you (inside of your mind)?  Let’s make it happen.

Under the Shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1),
