Not Looking That Direction
How important is it that you “see” or do not see the next thing coming your way? Well, that depends on “how” that next thing impacts your life … for good or evil. Do you feel yourself getting distracted from your God-given priorities in life and marriage?
[Part 1 – Topic]
Has something or somebody ever clearly distracted you enough to pull you completely away from what you were supposed to be doing? You know, really “caught your eye” long enough that you ended up ignoring other things of greater importance.
Ever feel like Satan will never let up from pointing out to you what you do not need to see? And maybe the distraction is actually intended to destroy your life. Just remember Adam and Eve evaluating the “only” tree in the Garden of Eden which our Creator said was forbidden.
Perhaps you should consider identifying a counter-distraction in advance. Possibly this strategy could help to offset whatever may be pulling you in the wrong direction. What can you think of that would likely help you get refocused?
[Part 2 – Problem]
Maybe unresolved internal issues are a problem for you. In the book of James, we learn about the concept of being drawn away by “our own” lust and enticed. If you ever feel like you are going through temptation, remember the Evil One will look for anything to get you drawn in and pulled away.
Perhaps you are not fully content in your marriage in some way. If you spend much time focusing your attention on what is less than perfect, you will likely discover yourself distracted on a regular basis.
Do you think the grass is ever actually greener on the other side? Have you noticed yourself looking for other options? Exploring alternate relationships? Please trust me when I tell you that “unfaithfulness” is never a good idea.
[Part 3 – Solution]
Allow your Awesome God to help you “overcome” any allurements to the things of the flesh. Your passions and cravings on the inside are intended to bring you and the love of your life closer together.
Remember, you must stay the course and focus on building a “Christian” marriage with your dear spouse. Hopefully you realize that you two love birds should be living every single day for the glory of God.
Do not waste any time focusing on “what” or “who” may be out there if you have already committed yourself “till death do we part”. You should never explore any other relationships of intimacy. Today is the day to prayerfully seek Father God on how to stay focused and avoid the distractions of the enemy.
