Who Are You Becoming?
More than likely, you have probably had little or no reason to answer this question before today. That being the case, would you consider with me for a few moments about the person whom you are “currently becoming”. Remember not to be critical or judgmental. Only learning to make better choices moving forward.
[Part 1 – Topic]
Some of us seemingly enjoy our “moments of reflection”. Last week, last month, or last year. As we continue to grow older, we may even begin to talk about those “glory days” which have now gone by. Maybe we should recall our “finer” moments along this journey of life, where we invited our Awesome God to guide us.
Looking back and remembering positive moments in our history is probably easier than living in the present and discerning which choice to make. Honestly, living in the “moment” (right now) is the best place to be. This “current” chapter of yours, specifically today, is the only real place where you can make a genuine impact.
If our Lord Jesus delays His return, where would you like to “be” a year or two from now? Do you believe you are traveling on the “right” road (to get you where you would feel most fulfilled or satisfied?) Truly, this is worth the time invested to be certain.
[Part 2 – Problem]
Not totally sure if you like the person you have been checking out in the mirror lately. Well, most of us will probably be “harder” on ourselves than we should be. Perhaps we should remember how much our Heavenly Father loves us and wants the very best for all of His children.
Possibly you have noticed yourself “saying” or “doing” things which are not your very best. Never allow yourself to stray too far from the incredible influence of God’s Holy Spirit. With His guidance, you should always feel a gentle tug pulling your back.
Maybe you have not been setting aside enough time in God’s Word and prayer lately. With so much constantly going on, we may just need to stop for a few minutes to reflect on the wisdom of God. That way, we have a better chance of becoming our very best.
[Part 3 – Solution]
Remember, as long as you continue to breathe, it is “never too late” to change for the better. Your Creator has great plans for both you and your spouse. So, try to make some “incremental” improvement in your life today (even just one small change).
Never allow your “pride” or “arrogance” to keep you from admitting when you made a mistake, or when you have been wrong. You just may discover a little more “freedom” when you realize a life of “excellence”, without always having to be “right” about everything.
Consider setting aside a little time for “reading” and/or listening to the Bible. And spend a few moments talking to God about where you would like to go in life. Chances are very good that He also wants to see you living your very best life.
From one who forever remains…
