Where Are You Going?

When was the last time you even tracked “where” you are going?  And then maybe even consider the “why” for each choice.  Of course, not all choices should be evaluated as merely “good” or “bad”.  On the contrary, many are likely “positive”, though a different option could be even better right now.

[Part 1 – Topic]

“Oh, be careful little feet where you go…”  As we find ourselves venturing down “Memory Lane” borrowing from Sunday School attending now years gone by, let us ponder this advice.  You know, it is good advice to “be careful” with each decision.

So, exactly where do you find “yourself” going?  Probably leaving home to travel to important locations like work, church and family functions.  But where else do you regularly or periodically peruse?  Are all of your choices your very best (at least for this chapter of your life)?

Have you ever just stopped long enough to gauge where your life and marriage is heading?  Where is this “work” (employment) decision leading me?  How about your “until death do we part” covenant with the love of your life?  Are you two love birds currently living in sheer bliss?

[Part 2 – Problem]

Maybe you have noticed yourself going “places” which you are not totally satisfied with?  Now could be a great time to evaluate your choices.  Even if you are not currently in a state of displeasure, perhaps your Heavenly Father is beginning to prepare you for something greater in the weeks or month ahead.

Do you feel you are not hanging out with enough Christians (or positive influences)?  Perhaps you are being bombarded with so many individuals who are taking more from you than they are giving back.  Maybe leaving you feeling less happy than before.

Who can you talk to about those utter frustrations and disappointments deep down inside?  Likely, there is probably someone who genuinely cares very much about you.  Now what can you do to make that connection with a person willing to offer an encouraging word or prayer or blessing on your part.

[Part 3 – Solution]

Consider tracking where you go over the next week or so, and why.  Most of us will already recognize our patterns (work, church, etc.).  What about the “time” and “people” pulling you away from a stronger relationship with your Loving God.  And maybe even drawing you away from “family” time.

Hopefully you realize that it is never too late to get more involved in your local church, small group, or community projects.  This volunteer, ministry opportunity should get you closer to God’s people for more positive, caring relationships.  Though, we do not want to neglect spouse and family time.

All of the “loved ones” in your life should include: family (relatives), close friends, neighbors, your pastor, and so on.  Maybe today would be the perfect time to list your “top 3” best influences.  These are the ones to talk to on a regular basis, getting the encouragement, advice and help whenever needed.

From one who forever remains…

“Under the Shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1),
