HIM & HER — Together (on the Same Page)

Enduring Rough Patches

So, you probably thought nothing bad would ever happen to God’s people, right?  Christians are “supposed” to be the happiest and wealthiest people on Earth, with no worries.  Well, you may be better off if you “expect” hard times to come, and begin some “preparation” now.  Would you rather “overcome” as a stronger person, or collapse under pressure and lose all hope?

[Difficulty]

To begin, I hope you truly believe that your Awesome God has an incredible purpose for both of you within your marriage.  Even the “strongest” of Christians will go through hard times at some point.  Maybe even more so than the average person within the community.

Perhaps you have already experienced something not so pleasant.  The human body has been created with the ability to “heal” itself.  This unfortunately may not always be the case, especially in severe circumstances like trauma cases.  Enduring physical health conditions may require some outside help and resources.

Other things to promote a rough patch may include financial stress (with the loss of income), emotional pain (with the loss of a loved one), and spiritual frustration (with continual prayers feeling unheard).  Many potential sources could bring a less desirable outcome to any aspect of your life and marital experiences.

[Strength]

Christian marriage is an awesome thing to experience.  You really do not have to have the “perfect” spouse to have a great life together.  Probably the best part is simply having someone next to you who really cares, and wants the very best for you.

When your other half is weak, you are encouraged to offer a sympathetic shoulder to cry upon.  Also, speaking words of comfort and encouragement will often help begin the healing process.  Remember, you and your other half should help carry each other’s burdens.  Enduring hard times together is so much better than being all alone.

If you are currently going through a difficult time, decide you and your life partner will endure and get through this together.  Every part of marriage is designed to share between husband and wife.  Together, both of you must pick up the pieces and rebuild.

[Endure]

In addition to being provided a soul mate to endure everything with you, there is someone far greater who loves you and wants the very best for you.  Your Heavenly Father is crazy about you, and wants to walk through life with you, especially those frustrating and difficult times.

Please keep in mind that trials are intended to help refine God’s people.  You will never want to be so isolated that you cannot experience any form of loss.  The goal should always be to endure everything with your spouse and Creator, for the glory of God.

Lastly, if you fall, get back up.  You are never supposed to just “stay” down.  Dust yourself off and begin moving forward once again.  You may need to talk with your pastor or a friend, for additional support.  In the end, release it all to the One whom is so happy to offer His assistance, your Awesome God.

From one who forever remains…

“Under the Shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1),
