HIM & HER — Together (on the Same Page)
[Prayer]
Protection Over Our Family
Do you think that we may have some influence over what happens within our home and family? Maybe we should be somewhat careful with “who” and “what” we bring in to our homes. Our prayer to God really should include our dependence upon Him for helping us with keeping our minds and hearts “pure”.
[Minds]
Honestly, I think you have a lot to do with what is going on in “your” home right now. Perhaps we should take inventory of what you are watching and listening to. What our eyes see and what our ears hear will strongly influence what our minds focus on throughout the day.
Moving forward, let us consider our purchasing options wisely. Before buying something new to bring home, ponder the potential good and bad which we may be inviting. From now on, be very careful when purchasing music to avoid “profanity”. Movies should only be brought home without “nudity”. Video games should not contain “violence”. Really, you will have to decide “where” to draw your own line.
Our goal should be to live in such a way not to invite the devil over. I truly believe you are interested in building a “Christian” marriage and home. So, you are investing your resources in to a place where “Jesus” feels welcomed and at home. Maybe we should ask ourselves what Jesus would watch and listen to while alone.
[Hearts]
Our greatest priority at home must be on doing what “pleases” our God. This should be the primary focus for “every member” of the household. You should not be stressed if you discover yourself to be “less than perfect”. Simply decide to do your very best each and every single day. Allow your Loving Heavenly Father to take care of the rest.
Perhaps the time has come for you to question what is best for your family to love and embrace. Bible reading for knowledge and instruction. Prayer time for guidance and direction. Christian music for praise and worship. And everything else which supports the current chapter of life you are now in.
Lastly, be careful not to hold on to anything for “too long”. Specifically, when someone you know has said or done something to hurt your feelings or disappoint you. Try to be quick to prayerfully release your feelings to God, and forgive the people involved. You surely do not want your “heart” to be distracted from loving and serving God, His people, and the lost.
[Prayer]
Heavenly Father, thank you for keeping us under the Shadow of Your Presence. May your perfect will always be done in my life, especially when alone. Teach me to identify anything which may be displeasing to You. Show me what needs to be changed or removed. Keep each of our “minds” and “hearts” pure. May we learn to say no to the devil’s foolish temptations. I offer myself to You, living to become my very best version. Thanks for hearing my prayer for protection over my family. I trust You to keep us from evil. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
From one who forever remains…
