No Husband Left Behind
HIM & HER — Together (on the Same Page)
[Bible]
So Prayers Not Hindered
“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” (I Peter 3:7)
Dwell With
In any marriage, you will probably experience some good days and other not so good days. The goal will hopefully be for you to determine to have far more better ones, and very few otherwise. More than likely, your other half will be interested in sharing mostly good (maybe even great) days with the man of her dreams.
Probably the hardest thing to do, at least during certain times or cycles, is to “dwell” with your bride. Her mood will go from good to bad at something stupid you may say or do. Remember, you can always say the awesome words, “honey, I am sorry”. Every husband should make a strong effort to live in harmony with the woman of his dreams.
Your marital union requires you to commit “until death do we part”. At least that is how I was instructed so many years ago. Your wife is an incredible creature, designed by our Awesome Creator to be your life partner in this incredible journey. Determine right now that you will do your very best to live out your days with her (side-by-side).
Giving Honor
The woman you decided to propose to and marry, well she really deserves far better than mediocrity. She really needs to feel extra special, preferably most (if not all) days the two of you share time together. The love of your life should not be dragging out of bed worried about how that knuckle-head she married is going to treat her.
As the husband, your “job description” includes “honoring” your wife. You need to be the one to initiate something positive, causing her to feel so fortunate to have said yes to your marriage proposal. She should live each and every day with a “genuine” smile on her face. Every woman looks more “beautiful” when she is free to share her inner joy through a natural “smile”.
Consider what you can “say” and “do” to make your loving and supportive partner feel genuinely loved and appreciated. She should actually feel a little bit like “royalty” perhaps, at least from time to time. Maybe it is time to schedule a “date night” where the two of you can get away from “stress” and “distractions”, and allow her some time for feeling pampered.
Heirs Together
Our Heavenly Father continues to adopt both “sons” and “daughters”, not just one or the other. Men and women have an important place in the Kingdom of God. Your wife should be treated as a princess, right? One of the daughters of our Almighty King!
Hopefully you have already come to realize that she has every “right” to expect and demand more than being treated as a “peasant” girl. Actually, your marital union will grow far stronger and provide you with greater satisfaction, simply by treating your wife with the same love and devotion her Heavenly Father offers.
Never forget that both of you were designed to “rule and reign” with our Lord Jesus Christ. Maybe it is time to begin living your lives together, for the Glory of God. When both of you really enjoy being together, she can produce a “real” smile, and so can you. Perhaps this is the desired journey, where all great marriages discover two very happy love birds.
Remember, the most important part — “that your prayers be not hindered.” Please do not ever allow anything to come between you and your Awesome God. We all want our prayers heard and answered. Love your wife, and give her a reason to thank God for you every single day.
From one who forever remains…
